Checklist

Dear Parent/Guardian/Friend,

In order to help you help your student with the successful delivery and set-up of their science fair project at the 2009 Missouri Tri-County Regional Science and Engineering Fair (MTRSEF) we are providing the following information, dates and times.

Please, read this flier carefully and use the check-list to assure that your student’s project conforms to the standards necessary to be displayed and/ or judged at the fair.

Project Checklist

Use this checklist to make sure your project conforms with MTRSEF project standards and can be displayed and judged. No Exceptions Can Be Made

Maximum size dimensions (projects with dimensions larger than these will not be judged) height = 96 cm, width = 56 cm

Honors Division Only= 30 inches (76 cm) deep front to back, 48 inches (122 cm) side to side, 108 inches (274 cm) floor to top- a table will not exceed 36 inches (91 cm)

must have an attached base

use pictures and/or photographs to show procedures and/or equipment used

people may not be identifiable if seen in pictures

no student name(s) or school name may be displayed

all display components should be fastened securely to the display board

a Logbook with title should be laid on the base and available for a judge to page through and review

Safety Procedures or ISEF Protocol forms should be signed and placed in the back of the Logbook in a sealed envelope

a Report with title should be laid on the base and available for a judge to page through and review (ONLY for projects in the Secondary Division, grades 5-12)

Project Drop Off, Judging, Viewing and Pick Up Procedures

Drop Off – Projects may ONLY be dropped off between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM on Saturday, February 27, 2010. Projects are to be dropped off at the College Center.

Judging

• Project judging begins at 9:00 AM until Noon on February 27, 2010. Interviews will be conducted from 9:00 AM -10:00 AM for all categories EXCEPT honors division who will be interviewed between 9:00AM- Noon. No parents are permitted in the projects during judging.

Viewing

• Viewing of projects will be from 1 PM until 5:30 PM.

Project Pick Up

• All projects must be picked up by 7:30 PM on Saturday, February 27, 2010. Any project remaining after 8:00 PM on Saturday will be destroyed, NO EXCEPTIONS.

NOTE: The fair takes no responsibility for projects left unclaimed after 8:00 PM on Saturday, February 27, 2010.

High School Special Awards – Saturday, February 27 at 6 PM in the Social Science Building.

• Our website will list every project which wins an award. It will be organized by grade level, school district, school and student name.

Plaques will be awarded for 1st -3rd places in each category in each grade level 5-12. Overall grade level winner will also be awarded. Special awards will be given on merit.

• Additional awards available include: ISEF Finalists – indicates the top projects in the honors division

level; and Special Awards – awards given by organizations for outstanding efforts in a particular area of science.
